Led by a food and beverage expert, this experience is designed to foster inclusion and a sense of belonging through a shared whiskey tasting and thoughtful discussion. During the session, your team will taste two Tennessee whiskeys side by side, learn professional tasting techniques, and craft a whiskey cocktail together. With a complete kit featuring three whiskey samples, cocktail ingredients, a tasting card, and more, you’ll also delve into the inspiring story of Nathan “Nearest” Green, the world’s first known African-American Master Distiller, whose legacy shaped the iconic Tennessee whiskey industry.
The story behind “Nearest” Green was uncovered in June 2016 when the New York Times revealed that Jack Daniel’s legendary whiskey may have been built on the work of this under-recognized enslaved man. This revelation inspired a Los Angeles-based entrepreneur to move to Lynchburg, Tennessee, where she uncovered 10,000 documents that brought Nathan Green’s pivotal role to light. Known for creating the “Lincoln County Process”—a method passed down from West Africa that defines Tennessee whiskey—Green’s contributions have now positioned his namesake brand as one of the most celebrated and awarded in the world.
