Led by a Harvard Law School instructor, this experience, inspired by Elaine Lin Hering’s book Unlearning Silence, aims to enhance communication and collaboration by identifying and overcoming barriers to open dialogue. During this interactive session, you’ll explore how silence affects your leadership and teamwork, engage in activities that reveal how we silence ourselves and others, and practice designing communication flows that amplify every voice. You’ll participate in breakout sessions and exercises, enabling you to apply these concepts directly to your team’s dynamics.
You will leave with practical tools to encourage transparency and inclusiveness, along with new perspectives on fostering a speak-up culture, revitalizing your team’s connection and effectiveness.

Deanna Pantín Parrish
Deanna Pantín Parrish (she/her) is a Lecturer on Law and a Senior Clinical Instructor at Harvard Law School, and the Assistant Director of the HNP Negotiation Teaching Network. She previously served as the Principal Consultant of CMA Consulting Group in Melbourne, Australia where she developed dispute resolution and learning solutions for over 2,000 professionals across various sectors. Deanna has also taught negotiation and mediation at Monash University and Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, and served as a lecturer at Georgetown University Law Center, University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, Smith College, and The University of Melbourne. A former litigation associate at Arnold & Porter, she holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a certified mediator and a member of the District of Columbia bar.
